Change voices

Change the AI voices that read your content aloud.

💡

SpeechKit provides access to a library of over 700 AI voices across 64 languages. You can also create a custom voice. Email [email protected] to learn more.

WordPress, Ghost, and RSS Feed Importer users

Audio created with our WordPress plugin, Ghost integration, or RSS Feed Importer uses a maximum of two voices: one to read the title, and one to read the body content.

You can change these voices in the 'Settings (General)' section of your project dashboard (please note this will also affect default voices for the API and Text-to-Speech Editor). Press the play icon next to the voice to hear a preview.

API users

Audio created using our API will use a maximum of two voices by default: one to read the title, and one to read the body content. Default voices can be changed in the 'Settings (General)' section of your project dashboard (please note (please note this will also affect default voices for other CMS integrations and the Text-to-Speech Editor).

However, when using HTML, you can manually set voices at a title or paragraph level by adding a data-speechkit-voice=* data attribute to the <title> or <p> element, where * is the voice ID from our list of voices.

Text-to-Speech Editor users

When using the Text-to-Speech Editor, you can select a voice for your title and a different voice for each paragraph. Simply select the current voice then select a new voice from the menu (press the play button to hear a preview).

You can change the default voices used for titles and body content (paragraphs) in the 'Settings (General)' section of your project dashboard.

> ❗️ If you don't set default voices in 'Settings (General)', you will need to manually set a voice for every title and paragraph. Click the microphone icon to see your options.

FAQs

Why am I not seeing a full list of voices?

The voice selection in your dashboard will be limited by the language (and sometimes locale) chosen for your project. You can change your project language in the 'Settings (General)' section of your project dashboard.

If I change voice settings, will my old audios be updated?

New voice settings will apply to newly generated audio only. This includes audio that is automatically or manually reprocessed.

This means that pre-existing audios will not be automatically updated when voice settings are changed. However, you can manually reprocess the audio:

  1. Go to the 'Content (Audios)' section of your project dashboard

  2. Hover on the audio that you would like to update the voice(s) on

  3. Select '⋮' then 'Reprocess audio' — if an audio credit is available, the audio should be processed within a few minutes
